Leadership Through Institutions and Opportunity

I approach leadership as the design of conditions in which other people can learn, contribute and progress. In universities, professional networks and community initiatives, this means building systems that reduce information gaps, strengthen capability and connect people to opportunities that would otherwise remain difficult to reach.

Career Development and Women’s Economic Empowerment

As Head of Career Development and Women’s Economic Empowerment at SIMAD Innovation Lab, I bring employability and women’s economic participation into a shared human-capital framework. The objective is to improve the transition architecture around students and graduates: self-knowledge, professional communication, labour-market information, mentoring, employer exposure, digital fluency and access to wider networks.

Women’s economic empowerment is treated as a cross-cutting institutional commitment, requiring attention to participation, information, confidence, networks and workplace readiness.

Somali–Japan Knowledge Networks

As Chairperson of the Somali-Japan Alumni Network, I support relationships that extend beyond individual scholarships. Alumni networks can facilitate knowledge exchange, mentorship, professional collaboration and long-term institutional ties between Somalia and Japan.

SomaThrive. As Founder of SomaThrive, I have developed an opportunity platform focused on scholarships, mentorship and educational guidance—reflecting a belief that talent is broadly distributed, while information, networks and institutional access are not.

Evidence-Led Design

Programmes should begin with a clear problem definition and measurable outcomes.

Institutional Ownership

Sustainable work must be embedded in systems, not dependent on one person.

Access with Standards

Inclusion and excellence are complementary when support is designed well.

Networks as Infrastructure

Mentors, alumni, employers and international partners expand the opportunity set available to learners.

Learning with Return

International education is most valuable when knowledge is adapted and reinvested in local institutions.
